Significant Treasures / Trésors parlants is a combination artbook, educational resource and travel guide for Canadians and tourists interested in Canada’s rich cultural heritage. Through its pages, the reader is introduced to a wealth and variety of significant objects selected by curators and museum directors of 131 member museums from Newfoundland to the Northwest Territories.
In the book’s Preface, John E. Cleghorn, Chairman and CEO, Royal Bank of Canada, writes, “It is a tribute to the diverse history and heritage of our vast country.”
Contents: Designed to foster greater awareness of this country’s museums and art galleries, the book, containing 320 illustrated pages, is organized by province, with city location maps and information for each museum. The treasures chosen range from artifacts of Canada’s First Nations to the works of contemporary artists. They are monuments to our heritage that are important to our social, cultural and political life.
