Volunteers in Museums and Historic Sites

The first comprehensive survey of heritage institutions conducted by the Government of Canada for the year 2011 was published by the Department of Canadian Heritage in 2014. The survey collected financial and operating data on all heritage institutions, including museums, art galleries, archives, historic sites, zoos and botanical gardens. It provided aggregate financial and operating data to governments and cultural associations with the aim to gain a better understanding of not-for-profit heritage institutions in Canada in order to aid in the development of policies, and the conduct of programs.
